EU Summit > EU Summit for Greater Democracy in Europe, October, 2009 MEDP's EU Summit for greater democracy, October, 2009, will gather practical, realistic, and immediately usable ideas from EU member state citizens. The goal of the Summit is to increase the level of democracy currently being practiced by the EU governing apparatus. It is about providing realistic methods by which a greater level of representation, accountability, transparency, and anti-corruption inter alia, can improve the connection EU citizens have with EU policy and legislation.
The conference has room for a maximum of five hundred delegates, with discussions and workshops to take place over four days. After the conference is complete, a series of documents (handbooks) and one larger volume will be prepared for publication and presentation to the EU government. The published materials will also be disseminated to various government ministries, civil society groups, libraries, universities, the media, industry, and will also be available online. This is done to ensure maximum impact of the delegates' ideas. To register for the EU Summit for Greater Democracy in Europe, please click here. Alternatively, you may click the 'conference registration' button found underneath the 'registration' button. The conference is multi-lingual and discussions/workshops can be held in a variety of languages as long as there is a sufficient number of delegates which can speak that language.
MEDP seeks a diversity of delegates (citizens from all EU countries) so that equal representation is achieved in order to mediate any potential bias. |
